Yeah, my perspective completely changed when I realized that “adults” are just children in grown bodies. People mature and change in some ways, but everyone fundamentally has the same mind and personality they had as children. The human lifespan is so laughably short, we barely have enough time to really get perspective and a foothold on being a person by the time we die. We should live at least twice as long. Humans conflate “old age” with wisdom and maturity, but being “old” is just your body physically breaking down as you reach the end of your life cycle and have mated/reared your offspring. Internally, an old person is still the same person they’ve always been since childhood. When you really zoom out, someone who’s thirty has only lived 20 years longer than a ten year old. That’s nothing. And most of that time is spent at school, work, or sleeping. We’re all just tall kids. We assume other people know what they’re doing, but nobody really does. We just follow guidelines written down by the people who came before us.
